Beta Games
Primogen Games (Beta) are game projects that I plan to sell as pre-releases while in development. The concept behind Beta games is to allow avid gamers the chance to try these games and share feedback to help shape the final product before it’s completed. These unrefined / raw games will give you a chance to be a part in the game’s development. I ask that anyone who take part in purchasing a beta game be ready to take notes and share feedback on these games as to how they would like to see them improve.
More about Beta Games
Beta Games are not perfect. If there is one thing I’ve learned in game design as well as being an avid tabletop gammer, it’s that there is always room for improvement. The trouble with many games is that they are not shared to a broader audience until after they are complete and ready to sell with a few finishing touches. This makes sense for most brands that want to protect their image, and for the fact that most people don’t want to play an unfinished game.
There are risks to this concept. That risk is that you may not like these Beta games. Any games I sell that I don’t feel are perfected enough to be part of our core game line up will be clearly labeled and sold as Beta Games. The goal with these beta games is to get something out in the market for feedback early on in the development stages of the game. How far along is a beta game? Well, I plan to use the following versioning breakdown to provide some indication so that when you’re looking at our Beta games, you’ll know where I’m at in the process.
V0.1 = First draft in its most raw form
V0.2 = Some testing and refinement
V0.3 = First major publication of art and game play
V0.4 = Theme is drafted
V0.5 = Mechanics are adapted to the Theme
V0.6 = Artwork & Illustrations are adapted to the Theme
V0.7 = Next major publication of Themed art and game play
V0.8 = More testing & refinement
V0.9 = Final major publication of revisions
V1.0 = Games move out of the Beta Games and become part of Primogen Games Core Games.
Buying a Beta Game is the first step in truly becoming part of my journey to create the worlds greatest table top games. I not only want to hear from you, but I expect to hear from you on how to make the game better. While I can’t make promises of free or discount items in the future, your support will be recognized and every effort to share my appreciation back will be given.
While Beta games will not be “Mass Produced” and, as a result, the pricing may not be super cheap, I will do my best to price all beta games as close to cost as possible for small production runs through prototype manufacturers. I hope you find this concept intriguing and want to take part in the journey.
