Primorbis Prototype Board

The last few weeks have been quite busy with the holidays and making progress with multiple games at once. I wanted to share a few quick updates for those who have been following along with Primorbis, as well as, some highlights on Track v0.3 coming soon.

Primorbis

My wife and I have been making some amazing progress on Primorbis over the last few weeks. We have created prototype item cards, quest cards, character cards, and now game boards! Donna and Henry, the talented artists, have done an awesome job creating some amazing art work for the game. I was super excited to print a 36”x24” poster of the 11k arial landscape Donna created a few months back for the first region’s game board.

Since prototype print runs can get quite expensive, especially for custom sizes like this, I decided to make my own game board from scratch. If anyone is interested in doing this themselves, let me know and I can share details. I won’t bore you will all that here, but following some tutorials from book binding techniques, I was able to make a very nice board for a reasonable price. For the smaller Player Vs Player (PvP) version of Primorbis, I used Print & Play. They were very reasonably priced for pre-existing sizes, even for double sided boards.

Here are some photos of the progress making the board. Honestly, this was crazy stressful cutting and gluing and when I finished gluing, it looked like garbage. But after I put some weight on the finished product and let the glue dry more over night, most of the bubbles and ripples went away and it looks much better. I’m going to make another with some adjusted colors and use a spray glue to see if it works better. I got enough board to make 5 full boards or 3 and a game box. Can’t wait!

Track v0.3

You’re probably saying, what happened to Track v0.1? Track v0.1 is finished, but after I looked it over a few times, I didn’t feel comfortable putting it out for sale just yet. While it is a “Beta” game, there is a level of polish that I still expect and there were 1-2 pages in the rule book that printed way darker than I expected and some of the card colors weren’t as bright as I wanted it to be. So, I’m going to hold on releasing the game till I have Track v0.3. It’s really close, and I’ve made a ton of progress over the weekend.

In other news, I’ve been studying tax laws, and my assessment is that they are absolutely ridiculous (in some states). I’m amazing anyone can sell anything these days over the internet, and I am inclined to NOT sell in a few states because of how bad the laws actually are, but we’ll see. I’m going to make every effort to sell in all the states across the US. I’m considering limiting customers to $500 a year, not like I wouldn’t be super happy if anyone wanted to buy that many copies, but once purchases go over that amount in some states, the tax laws get really messed up.

That aside, I’ve just ordered a reprint of a “2 Player Started Deck” of Track v0.3 with updated rule book and cards and I think it’s going to be a lot better. Once that comes in early February, I hope to have the game up for sale. I may sell it directly through The Game Crafter’s market place to simplify my taxes in 2020 as I’m also looking to move from CT to TN and I really don’t want to have to register in both states just to sell direct on my website. It may also help save all of you on some shipping costs. Here are some previews of the newest Track card art (it’s simple but it POPs!).
